A post made on the English AkibaBlog site on August 28 announced that the site will be suspended at the end of August. No reason for the shutdown was given, and it was not made clear as to whether the site will ever return.

Since we established AkibaBlog English Ver. in 2008, we have sent Akiba’s hot news to the whole world. But sadly, AkibaBlog English Ver. will be suspended by the end of August.
We are very sorry for you who have been looking forward to reading our blog.

Japanese version of AkibaBlog continues to report what’s going on in Akiba; we are more than happy if you continue to check Japanese version up.

English version of AkibaBlog will be suspended, but please, keep in touch with Akiba and Japan!

It’s a shame… It was a wonderful place to find out just what kinds of things were hot in Akihabara. Everything from doujinshi, anime figures and merchandise, games, DVDs, and even technology are covered there. Of course we still have the original Japanese AkibaBlog site, but that means I’ll need to learn to read Japanese… I’m having enough trouble just trying to learn how to speak and listen to it.
