Now this is just plain cool. A site called Akinator is a guarantee to blow your mind. It seems at first to be one of those goofy quizzes, but it’s a rather fun one. The Akinator is kind of a fortune teller… The idea is he asks you questions while you think of a specific character, and based on your answers he returns the character you were thinking of.
I suspect it’s some type of equation based trick, but I wonder… My first go round I thought the questions being asked were way off the mark until the second to last question (when he asked if the character was a member of a club)… At that point I knew he’d figured out the character I was thinking of was Yuki Nagato, and after the next question I was shown a picture of Nagato as the Akinator gave his answer. Even though I suspected it had figured me out it still made me push my chair back in amazement. I thought maybe I could fool it in the second round… I thought of a character that while not exactly being obscure is rather stereotypical, and likely to get mixed up. I was sure he was way off the mark by the questions I was asked, and it took several more questions than the first round, so I was proud that I had apparently stumped it when suddenly a pic of Kaname Chidori (Full Metal Panic) popped up, and I almost jumped out of my chair in disbelief.
Okay… It’s a goofy game to drive an ad based site, but no matter how much you tell yourself it’s just a computer program and not really a psychic fortune teller you still have to wonder. The questions are rather simple so it’s rather impressive that those vague questions can supply such a specific result. Oh… It’s not limited to anime characters either… It does movie, comic book, and even real life celebs.
Okay… Just to make sure I went back for a third round, and actually stumped the Akinator, but afterward it did provide a list of possibles, and asked me to click the name if it appeared… Sure enough Chiyo-Chan (Azumanga Daioh) was in the list of other possibles, so I’ll say while I stumped him he still got close.
So check it out if you have some free time (and make sure your pop-up blocker is enabled).
