Yeah… It’s another marketing gimmick, but what a useful one… U.S. iTunes is offering free selected episodes of TV shows to attract customers to their store. I myself have just downloaded the 2 part pilot for Mel Brooks Spaceballs animated show as well as the first episode of the Witchblade anime… Free!!! Granted I probably won’t be buying episodes off of iTunes, but it’s a nice way to preview shows without running out to blind purchase DVDs or waiting until you get lucky and some network decides to run a series.
Not to mention it’s legal. My source of previewing anime before I purchase it to date has been Youtube, so this might not be a bad deal. If you have an iPod then this is a good way to get some free shows to go. So regardless of their intentions you can’t deny that free is a good thing.
To find these free episodes you’ll have to search iTunes store for them. So far I’ve only checked a few parts of the Animation section where I found Witchblade Episode one, The SpaceBalls pilot (2 part), and a Star Wars Clone Wars behind the scenes special.
